Insurance & FAQ
Insurance and getting started
I’m in-network with several major plans, and I’m glad to help you make sense of your benefits before we begin. Here’s what I accept, how out-of-network coverage works, and answers to the questions people ask most.
Insurance
I am currently in-network with the following plans:
- CDPHP
- Highmark Blue Shield of Northeastern New York
- Medicaid
- Medicare
If you have a different plan, many insurers reimburse a portion of the cost of therapy with an out-of-network provider. I’m happy to provide a monthly superbill, a detailed receipt, that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. A quick call to the member services number on your insurance card can tell you what your “out-of-network outpatient mental health” benefits are.
Payment
Payment is due at the time of each session. I accept all major credit cards, HSA/FSA cards, and payments through the secure client portal. If you’re paying out of pocket, reach out and I’ll gladly walk you through my current fees. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours’ notice so I can offer the time to someone else.
Good Faith Estimate: if you’re uninsured or paying out of pocket, the federal No Surprises Act gives you the right to a written estimate of costs before we begin. Just ask, and one will be provided. Learn more.
FAQ
Common questions
How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals. Some people come for a few months of focused work on a specific challenge; others find longer-term therapy valuable for deeper patterns. We’ll check in regularly about your progress, and my goal is always to work myself out of a job, so you’re never in therapy a day longer than it’s serving you.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes, with a few legally required exceptions that I’ll explain fully before we begin (such as imminent risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult). Outside of those rare situations, what you share in therapy stays in therapy. My practice uses HIPAA-compliant systems for records, scheduling, and telehealth.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes. I see clients both in person at my Slingerlands office and by secure video. Telehealth is available to anyone physically located in New York State at the time of their session, and research consistently shows it can be just as effective as in-person therapy.
Where is your office, and is there parking?
My office is at 834 Kenwood Ave in Slingerlands, on the second floor, just minutes from Delmar and the town of Bethlehem. Free parking is available on site. Please note the office is reached by a flight of stairs. If stairs are a barrier for you, telehealth sessions are always available.
How do I get started?
The easiest way is to request an appointment through the secure client portal, or email me at nancy@sevillatherapy.com. I’ll get back to you within one to two business days to find a time that works.
Have a question I didn’t answer?
Ask away. There are no silly questions when it comes to starting therapy.
