Therapy, tailored to you
I work with children, teens, adults, couples, and families, in person at my Slingerlands office or by secure video anywhere in New York State. Sessions are weekly or biweekly, depending on what you need.
Trauma & PTSD
Painful experiences can leave a lasting imprint on the body and mind: hypervigilance, intrusive memories, numbness, or a persistent sense that you’re not safe. As a certified provider of Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM), I offer a focused, structured approach that can ease PTSD symptoms, and I always work at a pace that never overwhelms you.
- PTSD and post-traumatic stress
- Single-incident and complex trauma
- Childhood and relational trauma
Anxiety & Stress
Anxiety has a way of shrinking your life: the constant what-ifs, the tight chest, the nights spent rehearsing conversations that haven’t happened yet. Together we’ll identify what fuels your anxiety and build practical skills to quiet it, so decisions feel possible and rest feels restful again.
- Generalized anxiety and chronic worry
- Panic and physical symptoms of stress
- Social anxiety and perfectionism
Depression & Mood
Depression is more than sadness. It’s the heaviness that makes even small things feel impossible, and the quiet loss of interest in what used to matter. Therapy offers a place to be honest about how hard things are, and a path back toward energy, connection, and hope.
- Persistent low mood and loss of motivation
- Seasonal depression (a real challenge in upstate winters)
- Self-criticism and feelings of worthlessness
Relationships & Couples
The way we connect with others shapes everything. Whether you’re working through conflict with a partner, painful family patterns, or the fallout of a hard relationship, therapy can help. I work with couples and individuals on communication, trust, and repair, drawing on the Gottman Method and Compassionate Communication.
- Couples therapy and communication
- Conflict, trust, and repair
- Family and relationship patterns
Self-Esteem & Personal Growth
If you people-please, struggle to say no, or speak to yourself in a voice you’d never use with a friend, we can change that. Together we’ll build sturdier boundaries, more self-compassion, and a clearer sense of who you are and what you want.
- Boundary-setting and assertiveness
- Self-worth and the inner critic
- Confidence and personal growth
Life Transitions
Even good changes can be disorienting. New parenthood, a career pivot, kids leaving home, retirement, a move. Transitions ask us to let go of who we were before we know who we’re becoming. Therapy helps you navigate the in-between with intention instead of just white-knuckling through it.
- Career changes and retirement
- New parenthood and empty nesting
- Identity shifts at midlife and beyond
How I Work
Approaches that help you feel, not just talk
Good therapy is more than talking about problems. The approaches I use help you shift what’s happening underneath, so change actually lasts. I blend several evidence-based methods and tailor them to you.
Your first session is a relaxed conversation. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in and what you’d like to be different. There’s nothing to prepare, and you can share as much or as little as feels right.
- Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
- Internal Family Systems (IFS)
- The Adult Chair
- Somatic awareness
- Compassionate Communication (NVC)
- Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) for PTSD
Telehealth
Secure online therapy, anywhere in New York
Life is busy, and the Capital Region’s winters are real. Telehealth sessions offer the same care as in-person work through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform, with no commute required.
Telehealth is available to anyone physically located in New York State at the time of their session, whether you’re in Albany, Saratoga, Brooklyn, or Buffalo.
What you’ll need
- A private, comfortable space
- A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera
- A reliable internet connection
- To be physically in New York State during the session
Not sure which of these fits?
That’s completely normal. Most people come in with several things going on at once, not one tidy label. Reach out and we’ll sort through it together.
